This skill is recommended for full voice control of Russound systems. The Russound Control skill supplements the Russound Smart Home skill and provides extended control options for Alexa-enabled Russound products. The key difference with between the Russound Smart Home skill and the Russound Control skill is that you must add the words “ask Russound” or “tell Russound” at the beginning of each command. Alexa currently allows you to use either the word “ask” or the word “tell” but you must use the word “Russound” so that Alexa knows that you are trying to use a command that is available in the Russound Control Skill. This command structure is typical for advanced control skills of most smart home devices.
Some of the commands that are available with the Russound Control Skill are:
- Alexa, ask Russound to turn on the Master Bedroom
- Alexa, ask Russound to pause the Den
- Alexa, ask Russound to turn the Kitchen on
- Alexa, ask Russound to turn up the volume in the Living Room

Note: Once you have selected a room and are using the Russound Control skill, Alexa will remember the room and use that as the default until you ask Alexa to control a different room. Once Alexa knows you’re controlling the Living Room, you can now just say “Alexa, ask Russound to turn up the volume” without having to say “Alexa, ask Russound to turn up the volume in the Living Room” each time.
