Fashion and technology meet in Beverly Hills

Esquire House

Esquire House 360°

Constructed and furnished as a feature project for Esquire magazine, the Esquire House 360° is a 17,000-square-foot Italian villa nestled into stately Beverly Hills. Set on a three-acre ridge of land high above the city, the house offers a 360° view spanning from the Pacific Ocean to the Sierra Nevada mountains.

The ultimate bachelor pad

The goal of the house was to build a high-tech, high-fashion bachelor pad for the modern man. This meant combining the offerings of today’s top designers with the latest in whole-house digital media distribution. Naturally, the Esquire editors turned to Russound, the number one brand in multiroom audio, for help.

Each year since 2003, Esquire magazine has coordinated the design and construction of a residence for their “Esquire Bachelor.” For 2006, the editors chose storied, iconic Beverly Hills. The project balances the style of Old Hollywood with the sleek design and technical innovations of the modern world.

To decorate the house, Esquire asked some of the country’s most talented interior designers to help transform spaces into the epitome of luxury and style. Featuring a den outfitted by Louis-Vuitton, an entryway by TAG Heuer, and a great room by Versace, the Esquire House became a palette for many of today’s top fashion designers.

Not to be outdone by style, the Esquire House also features the best of modern technology. Completely networked, the house allows the access all of digital media and web content from any room. The foundation of the system is a Niveus n9 Professional Media Server mounted in the home theater rack.

For audio distribution, the Niveus media server is networked to three Russound CAV6.6 controllers accessed by 11 UNO-TS2 touchscreens and five UNO-S1 keypads. Additional sources include a Russound SMS3 digital media server, a Russound ST2-XM2 tuner that delivers two streams of XM satellite radio, and a Russound iBridge Dock. The house also includes a Russound ComPoint 12-zone intercom system.

While the Esquire House 360° is an exercise in design and marketing, it also works to give back to the community. Over the last three years, the Esquire House projects have raised nearly $2 million for charitable causes. The house becomes the backdrop for numerous charity events and fundraisers sponsored by Esquire advertisers. These celebrity-studded charity events have benefited worthy organizations such as Art of Elysium, City of Hope, the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, Oceana, Oxfam America, VH1 Save the Music and the FasterCures Conference.

The Russound system was installed by Wilson Home Theater Systems of Sherman Oaks, California.
